Regen Jacket and fabric care

As it is the peak of the season for waterproof Jackets it’s perfect time to give some closer look to moomoo’s Regen jacket. Regen with taped seems needs just a bit more care that You could feel yourself dry and comfortable after many uses to come.

But first let’s describe You eVent membrane which is behind the waterproofness and breathability of the Regen jacket.  It is special patented, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) membrane with oleophobic properties. Sounds complexed? World of waterproof and breathable textiles tends to be  bit so.

There are mainly two different type of systems: wet and dry. Most common waterproof/breathable membranes do not literally “breathe.” Instead, they move sweat in two slow steps by a process of diffusion through a polyurethane (PU) layer. Because PU absorbs and retains sweat, the inside of the fabric becomes wet. Then, body heat begins to push that dampness through to the outside of the fabric where it can finally evaporate — a very inefficient process.

eVent fabrics get their unique properties from a proprietary and patented waterproof membrane. Its unique composition allows millions of tiny pores to breathe at their full potential. Sweat vents directly to the outside of the fabric in one easy step. We call this Direct Venting™ Technology. Its genius is hidden in its simplicity. eVent fabrics simply let the sweat out™—up to twice as fast as common waterproof/breathable fabrics.

eVent has revolutionized the waterproof/breathable category by creating a ‘dry system’ that instantly vents the moisture that typically builds up inside your garments as you sweat. No multi-step process, no wet-on-the-inside feeling.

Technical outerwear benefits from regular washing to perform optimally. Machine wash warm (110°F / 40°C) with a high performance cleaner like Nikwax® Tech Wash, or if you elect to use a conventional liquid laundry detergent, we recommend a second rinse to remove all traces of detergent from the fabric. Do not use fabric softeners, bleach or stain removal products and never dry-clean your garment.

Regen

Your Regen jacket from eVent fabric has been treated with a factory-applied durable water repellent (DWR) finish. DWR serves as an invisible first line of defence in wet conditions, and, when working properly, causes moisture to bead up on the fabric surface and roll off.

A DWR finish will degrade over time and will occasionally need to be replenished. The garment will perform at its best if you maintain the DWR finish. Tumble dry, using a low heat setting, to rejuvenate your garment’s durable water repellent finish (DWR).

Regen

How to understand when DWR needs refreshment? A simple way to test your garment’s DWR finish is to lightly spray or splash it with water and see if the water is beading up or being absorbed by the fabric. If the fabric ‘wets out,’ it’s time to revive the DWR finish. When it’s time to retreat the DWR finish, we recommend a DWR replenishing product like Nikwax® TX.Direct Wash-In or TX.Direct Spray-On.
